McCain Fights Bush's Culture of Torture

Maybe because he is a real veteran and not a daddy-git-me-in-the-Texas-Air-Guard over-privileged draft dodger. Maybe because he served his time in the military instead of being AWOL to work on his father's senatorial campaign. Maybe because he was a POW during the last major U.S. ruling class imperial action. Whatever it is, John McCain has amended a bill to end the policy of torture that has gone unabated since this administration began. The coward in chief has threatened to veto it. Just how cruel the U.S. prison system manifests itself isn't often headline news in the reactionary corporate press.

Transfered to Jena Correctional Facility, surviving inmates have been subjected to brutal beatings and other detestable treatment. The Human Rights Watch Articles above are accounts of their plight.

Porn for Porn

We've all heard the ghastly story of the site that trades porn for photos of mutilated bodies of Iraqis butchered in the ongoing occupation. Being a veteran myself I know what kind of people they let in the service. So while it didn't surprise me it did make me somewhat sad. Author John Chuckman deals with the latest Bush administration scandal. War Porn: What the Gruesome Images Say
